Frequently Asked Questions
Airports: What airports can Riley fly out of?
Riley Aviation can fly in and out of any of America’s 5,000 public airports. The size of the runway determines which of Riley’s 10 aircraft would be utilized.
Comparison: How does charter air travel compare to commercial airline travel?
Not only is charter travel more convenient with less hassles, it is also much more efficient than commercial travel. Our customers can turn a two- or three-day trip into a single day roundtrip by being able to fly directly into several small or remote locations based on their flexible schedule, not the airlines’ pre-determined, unflexible schedule. Streamlined travel efficiencies are the number one reason that business people fly charter. These same efficiencies are what make charter air travel cost competitive with commercial travel. By eliminating costly connector flights, rental cars and hotel rooms, charter air travel becomes very cost effective. Not to mention the value of wasted employee working hours spent traveling commercial and personal peace of mind regarding lost luggage, security risks and crying babies.
Destinations: Where can Riley fly to?
Riley Aviation is certified to fly anywhere in the continental United States, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean.
Local Pick-up: Can you pick me up at my local airport?
Absolutely. In fact, this convenience is one of the top reasons people choose charter travel over commercial airlines. Less driving with close free parking, no luggage check-in, no security scanning and searches. Quick, on-time boarding and departure are all features people love about using their local community airport instead of a congested major ‘hub’ airport.
Location: Where is Riley located?
Riley Aviation is headquartered at Kirsh Municipal Airport in Sturgis, Michigan, which is just north of the Indiana border. This location gives Riley great access westward to Chicago, southward to Indianapolis and eastward to Northern Ohio. And, our convenience and access northward to Grand Rapids and eastward to Lansing is even greater with Riley's second location at the Kalamazoo Airport.
Pilot Training: Are charter pilots as well trained as commercial airline pilots?
As a certified non-scheduled air carrier, Riley’s pilots have the same training with 6-month recurrent check ride testing as the scheduled airline pilots. And, with a much lower passenger-to-pilot ratio, our pilots are better able to communicate with their passengers and attend to their questions and needs.
